Method and application
A Condition Assessment Survey (CAS) establishes a structured picture of a vessel's condition before dry docking or a major maintenance period. UTM and NDT results are reviewed with corrosion, coating breakdown, deformation, damage and weld discontinuities. Existing records, field findings and maintenance priorities are combined for main and auxiliary engines, piping systems, pumps, valves, propulsion and steering equipment.
Scope of application
- Condition assessment of the hull, deck, tanks, voids and superstructure
- UTM, NDT and visual findings consolidated in one condition report
- Review of main and auxiliary machinery, pumps, valves and piping systems
- Preparation of dry-dock work lists, specifications and priorities
- Follow-up of repair scope, staging needs and open items
The CAS scope is defined for the vessel type, age, class requirements, available records, access and planned maintenance programme. Work requiring class or flag approval is handled under the relevant organisation's procedures.
Reporting
The report records hull and machinery findings, measurement locations, photo and video evidence, prioritised work items and technical recommendations for maintenance planning.
