Method and application
In ultrasonic testing, sound from a transmitter inside the hold is measured with a receiver around the hatch cover. Following equipment checks and reference measurements, the cover perimeter, seals and accessible joints are inspected.

- Inspection of the cover perimeter, seals and joint lines
- Locating indications of leakage
- Records suitable for reinspection after maintenance
- Reporting of test conditions and results
- Visual inspection of drainage channels, compression arrangements and securing devices
- Hose testing and inspection of manhole covers and watertight doors, depending on scope
Results reflect conditions at the time of testing and do not guarantee tightness in all sea conditions. Assessment follows the relevant procedure and criteria.
Reporting
Reports document the areas tested, reference measurements, leakage indications and areas outside the scope.
